D&L Restoration was excited to attend our first national trade show: SEMA.
Having heard of the show and seeing countless pictures, Louie was excited to get the opportunity to attend this year. We headed down to Las Vegas on November 2, 2010 and after dropping the bags at the hotel, headed off to the show. What an adventure!
The show itself is enormous. There aren’t pictures to describe the sheer size. We tried to make a game plan to be efficient in our walk through but realized that we were going to have to settle for just trying to see – and talk to – as many vendors as possible in the short 5 days of the show. The first day we saw 75% of the smallest building and by day 2 we had picked up the pace a little. There were vendors for everything from paint to bodies, to tools, to cabinetry. We saw the best of the best (and the worst of the worst – there is no accounting for taste sometimes!).
Highlights included getting to see Dynacorn’s full aftermarket bodies – getting a chance to run our hands across them, check out the quality and workman ship from a first person perspective rather than trying to rely on internet pictures and sale rep’s pitch. We also saw hundreds of wheel options – vintage aftermarket to modern. We saw plotters that could recreate parts from a computer program, weaving polymer threads before your eyes to create the part (or the mold for the part) that are unobtainable. We saw scanning tools to input for the plotters computer program – have a part that isn’t available anywhere – make it!!! There was glo in the dark paint, pin striping experts whipping out artwork, custom cars, motorcycles, and trailers to boggle your mind. Everyone from the nationwide shop to the one man show was represented. Every make and model there to see in person. So many custom ideas, it got our creative juices flowing.
Every aspect of the car business was well represented. It was almost overwhelming.
And if ONE show wasn’t enough – the APEX show was being held simultaneously. Louie headed over there on Thursday – the last day it was open. Turns out this show is more for the purpose of wholesale operations which is not this shops specialty. But it’s good to see what’s available.
Back at the SEMA show on Friday, we wrapped up the week going back and revisiting some of our favorite cars – there were several one of a kind builds there that caught our eye.
We are still in the process of weeding through the 1,000’s of pictures we took but stay tuned for an album (and link) to the 2010 SEMA show through the eyes of D&L Restoration!
Meanwhile – we have lots of new information, lots of new contacts and ideas – and we’re eager to start helping you see your vision of what your vintage car can be – start driving your dream by next summer!!

- Your contact info to be published with the ad – either a phone number or (preferably) an email address.
- your full name for our records (will not be published)
Each ad will be posted for 2 weeks at a time or until item is sold (please contact us if it is sold).
Items allowed:
- VINTAGE only – 30 years or older.
- Car parts and accessories.

We reserve the right to not publish your ad if the item is questionable in nature or not within the spirit that this is being offered. We will notify you when the ad expires and you’ll have the option of renewing it for another 2 weeks.
This is a new venture that we’re trying out – please be patient as we work out the fine details and try and create an online marketplace for Vintage car/truck enthusiasts!
